Noise Hunters Devlog 22 - Predator

Hello [Code_Name: MEVYE] [Location: CLASSIFIED], welcome back!

Today we will talk about the Predator enemy, based on melee attacks.

Noise Hunters has two types of enemies: Gunner & Predator. Recap: All the enemies in Noise Hunters are blind and specialize in the detection of sounds. Depending on the type of enemy, they will react in different ways, presenting different challenges to the player. In addition every enemy has a type of "radar", called internally as HES. If the player is inside the HES, the enemy will know exactly where is the player for a couple of seconds.

The Predator is an enemy specialized in melee combat and will chase down the player when it's been detected. In greater depth, when the enemy detects a player sound, it will directly fire the HES to detect the player nearby. Unlike the Gunner, which shots in the direction of the sound, the Predator cannot do that and seeks anomalies close to him so he can neutralize them easily.

If the player is detected in the first HES, the Predator will chase him until the detection is finished or gets close enough to use its melee attack. The melee attack will instantly kill the player, as MEVYE is not equipped with a combat suit and cannot withstand such pressure from the attack. In case the player is not detected in the first HES, the Predator will go to the origin of the sound and use a second HES to find out if the player is still in the vicinity. After looking for the player for some time the enemy will return to his patrol routine.

Don't underestimate the Predator, as he can quickly reach the player's location an eliminate him in a blink of an eye!

Thanks for reading and don’t make any noise! 🤫
