Noise Hunters Devlog 6 - First Prototype
Hello [Code_Name: MEVYE] [Location: CLASSIFIED], welcome back!
Today we will be talking of the first prototype made by Alejandro "LoBo v4" Fresquet, as a prove of concept after the One Pager we showed.
After the one pagers where approved, each member of the team had to develop a simple prototype with the core mechanic implemented. We did this as a prove of concept and to see if our ideas could be transferred from paper to an actual game and still be fun.
We had a 2 week period to make the prototype and so the problems of the different ideas started to come out. With the Noise Hunters prototype, Alejandro "LoBo v4" Fresquet, ended with a demonstration of logical systems, showing in basics how sounds would interact with different.
As we mentioned before during the development of the project, we opted to simplify the sound tier system to simple sounds, creating this way a more playable experience and avoid design problems that we couldn't solve easily.
During this type of process its normal to see that an idea in paper "sounds" fun, but when is translated to an actual game the perception changes. Despite this, as a designer you don't have to be disappointed with the results. Thanks to the prove of concept you can "dodge a bullet", because you can see right away problems with the game idea and avoid investing money and time on a project that isn't going to work from the start.
