Noise Hunters Devlog 3 - One Pager


Hello [Code_Name: MEVYE] [Location: CLASSIFIED], welcome back!

One Pager! this is a great design tool to present an idea in its core and remove mechanics that are not needed. As the name indicates, you should present the core idea of your game in one page, easy to read and understand. We recommend you to watch this GDC conference about One Pager Design, it helped us a lot!

Noise Hunters was conceived as a stealth game focused on sound by Alejandro "LoBo v4" Fresquet. Depending on your action, you would produce a sound, out of 3 types and as the sound intensity decays with the distance travelled, its type will change. Why have types of sound? that's why we introduce "Listener type" (enemies in other words), depending on the listener type, it will detect a type of sound.

As we see in the One Pager a listener type A will only detect sounds Type 1 (very loud) but will ignore the quieter sounds and so on with type B and C being the "Noise Hunter", as it is able to hear any type of sound the player produces. Basically, the idea is an interaction between a speaker (sound producer) and Listener.

As you will see when Noise Hunters is published (Steam May 25th, 2020) the game idea is similar but not the same, well. welcome to Game Development! as we started to develop more the idea we encountered design flaws that will take too much time to solve so we shifted. We will tell our shift in idea in a future post, so stay tuned! As advice, don't be closed to change radically your game ideas, there is no perfect concept and there is always room for improvement!
