Noise Hunters Devlog 2 - Use the Dagger!
Hello [Code_Name: MEVYE] [Location: CLASSIFIED], welcome back!
Use the Dagger! Since the first ideas of Noise Hunters, the player had some sort of "decoy" that could be thrown to distract the enemies and create gaps to exploit. Since we are in the dark and the only way to see the environment is through sounds, we modified the original "decoy" to a throwable dagger.
The dagger is the main tool the player has to move through the level, when it hits an object in the environment it will create a large sound that will attract any enemy nearby, but it will also allow the player see the level ahead! without the risk of being detected. But the dagger doesn't end there! you can hit enemies, stunning them for a short period of time and thus, opening a window to assassinate them!
When I throw the dagger how can I get it back? Good question! The player has a skill that attracts the dagger, like the force used in the Star Wars Saga. Be careful though! this skill can't be used always, this way we limit the use of the dagger and create a more strategic decision: Do I throw the dagger now and risk it by not have any tool? or keep it for a dangerous situation? (you can always grab the dagger manually, however you like!)
We wanted to create a tool that helps the player move through the environment and don't feel defenceless against the enemies. On the other hand, we had to be cautious and don't create a tool the player could exploit, ruining the experience of stealth and terror.
Thanks for reading and don’t make any noise! 🤫
